To achieve ‘best full coverage foundation‘ status, full coverage foundations need to abide by four rules:
- Completely cover blemishes and even out skin tone
- Be easy to blend
- Not look thick and cakey on the skin
- Create minimal creasing
Many foundations claim to be full coverage but don’t actually live up to their claims to perfectly cover imperfections. Unfortunately, not every full coverage foundation is going to be entirely successful at covering absolutely everything, but luckily after a lot of testing I’ve come up with a list of four of my all-time favourite foundations. All fabulous for creating an airbrushed illusion and concealing even the most difficult to hide problemed areas!
Estee Lauder Double Wear
I was pretty late to the Double Wear game, but the hype is true, this foundation is fabulous and certainly deserves its spot on the best full coverage foundations list.
When first applying, start off with a small amount and build your way up as a little goes a long way. Depending on how much coverage you prefer, you can continue to build up until you’re at your ideal look. I found this fabulous as I prefer my full coverage to even out my skin tone while still allowing my freckles to subtly peek through and this allowed me to achieve the look I preferred.
Surprisingly, the consistency of the foundation is pretty lightweight and quite runny. No complaints here though, it feels lightweight and extremely comfortable on the skin which is great if you’re wearing for a prolonged period of time.
Huda Beauty Luminous Matte Foundation
I’d go as far to say the Huda Beauty Luminous Matte Foundation is probably the fullest coverage foundation on this list. It covers absolutely everything; I was so shocked to see my skin transformed to one even colour even after one thin layer. I’m not sure exactly what has been put in this bottle of dreams but it’s nothing short of a full coverage miracle!
With both luminosity and mattifying in the areas you need it, the Huda Beauty Foundation will quite literally mask your skin in a veil of perfection. I wouldn’t necessarily use this foundation for everyday wear, but it is a game changer for night out makeup when you want to look airbrushed.
Can’t Stop Won’t Stop
Here’s a high coverage, fully matte foundation that the oily skinned babes will be gasping for. At only £15 the NYX Can’t Stop Won’t Stop foundation is an absolute steal coming in at the lowest price point for the best full coverage foundations tested here.
Being a matte finish foundation means that the lasting ability of this foundation is incredible and will keep your skin covered all day without any cakey or creasing mishaps. With a huge range of 45 shades this foundation is fabulous at catering for pretty much every skin tone. Well done NYX.
Fenty Beauty PRO FILTR Foundation
Again, if you have oily skin then you’re in for a treat with the Fenty Beauty Foundation. I’m happy to report its long wearing claims are all true. The Fenty Beauty foundation will keep your skin shine free and fully covered all day long, even on those humid days when you may find your usual foundation like to slip and slide around.
Like all of the foundations to feature on this list you don’t need to pack on the product to achieve a flawless full coverage base. It blends in effortlessly with a little going a long way. If you do find you want a little more coverage, then simply build up the layers.
