If you wear mascara every day and seem to be getting through tubes faster than I get through a large bar of Dairy Milk (I can confirm, that’s incredibly speedy!) you may regard splurging on a super expensive mascara as leaking money. After all, dropping £20+ every so so often isn’t the most wallet friendly option, especially when you can purchase mascaras that are just as good for a fraction of the price. Would you believe me if I told you some of the best mascara’s I own are under £10?
Yes, the secret’s out, mascaras don’t always need to break the bank to perform well. Of course, some of the more high-end options available do work incredibly well, but honestly sometimes a budget mascara is all you need to get the job done.
The thought of testing out new mascaras may be slightly daunting from a financial point of view – who knows if that £25 formula will be any good or not! For that exact reason I’ve put myself forward as testing tribute. Just call me the fairy godmother of mascara, being your mystical guide through the jungle like aisles of high street drugstores. No more wasting your own money trying to find the best mascara under £10, I’ve done all the testing for you!
The best mascaras for under £10
I like to think I know a thing or two about a good mascara having tried SO many over the years and having a background in makeup artistry. My hope is this understanding can help inform others on products that are actually worth buying and those that you should just stay away from.
Go ahead, pop your high-end, super expensive mascaras to one side solely for using on special occasions, we’re delving into all the best mascaras under £10, enjoy!
Maybelline Colossal Big Shot Mascara
Not only does this mascara perform on its big promise to create voluminous lashes it even has an enriching formula that keeps your lashes looking fabulous even after you’ve removed the formula. Applying beautifully from root to tip, it’s curved wand lifts and fans your lashes to create an undeniably sultry look.
NYX Professional Makeup Worth the Hype
If bold and striking are the two main things you look for when choosing a mascara, you won’t want to miss out on this one. Pretty much any NYX product I try I fall in love with, and this mascara is no exception! I’ve certainly raved about this product before and to be frank it probably won’t be the last time I slip it into “the best…” lists.
The product glides beautifully over your lashes fanning them out to create a clump free fanned-out appearance. It’s lengthening, volumizing and it comes in a waterproof formula, what more could you want for under £10?
Maybelline Lash Sensational
A classic. That’s all I have to say.
Honestly, I have continuously re-purchased this Maybelline product knowing it always does the job. Maybelline is up there with some of the high street makeup brands that always succeed in creating superb mascaras. This product is among the best of the best for Maybelline, it captures every lash, coating them a smooth, blackest-black formula to enhance and enrich. Defining your lashes sensationally (see what I did there😉) and making the length appear multiplied after just one coat.
Rimmel London Wonder Extension Lash Lengthening Mascara
Lets first talk about the wand bristles as this is the stand-out feature when it comes to this mascara. With varied lengths that stretch right to the tip of the wand the bristles make it super easy to reach every single lash, yes, even those hard-to-reach inner corner lashes are no match for the Wonder Extensions mascara.
No prizes for guessing the effect this mascara gives – yep that’s it, lengthening. I must admit I have come across other mascaras that lengthen your lashes better, but for only £9.99 it’s a real contender for the best mascaras under £10.
L’Oreal Paris Volume Million Lashes Mascara
Ok, this one is 99p over the £10 budget but if you have an extra pound rolling around then it’s a superb budget option.
I’ve never seen a mascara wand so crammed with bristles. This is perhaps the thing that make this product stand out from its rivals. The wand ensures the right amount of product is deposited on your lashes. Easily creating a separated, fanned-out eyelash look that stays put with no visible smudging.
