Testing Glossier Skincare Products

Who are Glossier?

Glossier’s main ethos is to produce back-to-basics beauty products that strip away all the unneeded flashiness that often comes with skincare products. They sell no-nonsense skincare and minimalistic makeup that gives that natural beauty aesthetic we’re all head over heels for.

Glossier’s popularity has been soaring in recent years, so getting my hands on some of their best selling products seemed like an absolute necessity. Here are my first impressions of the fan favourite, Glossier!

Testing Glossier skincare

After being blown away by the amount of positive talk surrounding the Glossier brand, I felt it was right to get my hands on some of the skincare products myself. I have previously used a handful of their makeup products but never ventured into the skincare products they have on offer. I’m disappointed in myself too, how can I claim to be a skincare enthusiast having never tried any Glossier products?!

I decided to choose The Skincare Edit as this offered a range of products in one bundle for a very satisfactory price – only £29 for six items! In this kit you get a cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturiser, two different balms and a light reflecting oil serum, plus the added bonus of a cute pink Glossier headband – nice touch! This option seemed like a pretty good starter kit to give me an overview of the different products Glossier has to offer.

Testing these products couldn’t have come at a better time as my skin has been looking pretty dull and in need of some TLC. Hopefully this will allow me to get an even better insight into how well these products perform.

First Impressions

Of course the presentation of this kit was immaculate, and I know you’re not supposed to buy products just because of the way they look, but the clean aesthetic of Glossier products definitely temps you to buy them over other skincare brands.

Considering this was a mini kit all the products came much bigger than expected, which was a nice surprise. Many other mini kits only last for a handful of uses whereas these products look large enough to last for at least a few weeks.

Glossier products breakdown

To get a full overview of Glossier I’m going to be giving a breakdown of each product in this travel kit separately to see if I love them all or if some products stand out as more fabulous than others.

All the minis in this kit are also available as full-sized items. If one product stands out more than the rest it’s easy to repurchase just one or two products without having to buy the entire selection again. Hurrah!

Glossier cleanser

First up we have the Glossier cleanser, an essential addition to your skincare routine. Cleansers are used to deep-clean any grime or makeup that may be lingering on your face to refresh your base and keep your skin looking radiant.

Described as a milky jelly consistency it feels just as it describes – like a creamy jelly! The thing I love the most is how easy it removes makeup, yes, even stubborn products like mascara and eyeliner. It’s feels soft on the skin and isn’t overly fragranced so hasn’t caused any irritation to my skin.

One thing I would say is that it can be a little drying on your skin, although this is easily sorted by always applying a good moisturiser after use. With that being said, I can say with confidence that this cleanser would work well for a wide range of skin types, even those on the oily side.

Super Bounce Serum

If you are looking for a serum that rejuvenates your skin and injects some much-needed hydration then you may find this serum is a great choice for you. I’ve tried a few different hydrating serums before and although this one is probably on par with the likes of cheaper serums from The Ordinary or The Inkey List, it’s still a fabulous buy.  If you’re looking for a product that does a good job but also has the added benefit of being aesthetically pleasing, then the Glossier Super Bounce Serum is definitely one to add to your shopping list.

My dull skin felt revived and extremely soft, but I can’t say that this serum is going to become my ride or die as it hasn’t offered me anything different than cheaper alternatives I’ve used. Ultimately, I would buy this again however it’s not permanently made it’s way into my skincare routine.

Glossier Balm Dotcom

In this travel set you get not one but two of the best selling balm dotcom’s in the original and rose flavour.

Personally rose isn’t my favourite of flavours but the slight addition of the pink tint adds a little extra colour to my lips which I’m a fan of. In terms of the actual ability of this balm I have to admit it’s a goodun’! I’m usually just a basic Vaseline girl but this lip balm has convinced me to switch. Its extremely moisturising on the lips and keeps them looking smooth and soft but not sticky! it’s mini size also means it’s easy to carry around on the go to apply whenever you need a little extra nourishment.

Even better, this balm doubles up as a mini moisturiser to tackle any other dry areas. Elbows looking a little flaky? No problem, whack on a coat of the balm and you’ll be left with nothing but silky smoothness.

Looking at the Glossier site there is also a ton of other fun flavours available to try!

Glossier Futuredew

Perhaps my favourite product is the Futuredew. On first inspection I was a little non-plussed on what this product actually did and if I’m really honest I’m still not entirely sure what benefits it holds for my skin. With that being said, it makes my skin look fabulous and to me, that’s all that matters. It’s described as a ‘light reflecting, oil-serum hybrid” and from what I can decipher, it almost feels like a highlighting product that brings added glow to you face while still injecting hydrating ingredients through it’s half serum formula.

Plump, dewy, hydrated skin? It’s a yes from me! This product is a definite will buy again.

Final Thoughts

I’ve been using these products for a week now and overall I’m blown away by how well each and every product performed. Not only do I adore the clean aesthetic of the products themselves but more importantly they work incredibly.

This travel kit is said to be suitable for all skin types however, I would say it is more beneficial to those with normal to dry skin, rather than those with oily skin as its serums is targeted more to those who need hydration.

I will definitely be back to order some more products from Glossier and this time intend to invest in some of their full-sized offerings.
