Fenty Beauty – Pro Filtr Soft Matte, Longwear Foundation (shade 130)
In 2017, an absolute icon of mine – Rihanna – launch her own cosmetics brand, Fenty Beauty. Despite not trying any products till now, I always see people raving about it and I love its broad inclusivity across skin tones and of course gender!
As someone who suffers with combination skin (more oily), I’ve never been able to find a full coverage foundation that lasted all day without my face going shiny or my make up starting to come off. I have also suffered with acne since my childhood. Although my skin is now a lot better, I still find myself having regular breakouts that feel almost impossible to cover.
This was my first time trying out any Fenty beauty products which was exciting as I have heard great things about them – especially the foundation. First impressions are key and I thought that the packaging was aesthetically pleasing, simple and clearly branded. It looked expensive (which it is) so I was delighted it actually lived up to it’s luxury price.
Application
To really test the long-lasting capabilities of the Fenty foundation I decided to apply it first thing in the morning. After applying my usual Katherine Daniels moisturisers and primer, I dampened my beauty blender sponge and got to work applying the foundation. Straight away I found that you don’t need a lot of this product to get a decent amount of coverage, a little certainly goes a long way.
The foundation application was easy and left my skin looking smooth and matte which is exactly what I was looking for. It’s the type of foundation where, if applying a very thin layer, you may not need to use any powder for more coverage.
I have a lot of freckles that come out in the summer months which I’m not a huge fan of. So, I appreciated the fact that If I applied a little bit more foundation, that this covered them but you would also have the option to allow your freckles to shine through if you preferred.
I can’t praise the Fenty Beauty Foundation’s power to withstand day-to-day activities enough. I usually apply my make up around 7am most mornings and with only minor touch ups throughout the day my makeup is still pretty intact at around 10/11pm when I take it off. As a singer I’m always looking for a foundation that is capable of lasting through my performances. When I perform I’m always under stage spotlights which makes it a very hot and sweaty environment – but the Fenty Foundation doesn’t even budge – I love it.
Colour match
When applying the foundation, I was immediately impressed with the initial colour match. It took me a while to pick the colour before purchasing due to previously struggling with getting the right colour for my skin – which is quite pale with more yellow, than pink tones.
I have previously been using a No7 matte foundation in the shade ‘calico’ which I thought worked really well for my skin tone until I tried this product. I am the type that applies foundation down my neck too, so I was amazed at how well the Pro Filtr foundation blended into my own skin tone.
Final thoughts
Quite honestly, I’m not sure I’ll be trying anything but Fenty beauty for a while! It worked so well for my own particular needs, although If I continue to go on sunbeds, I may go a shade or two darker just to keep that perfect match alive.
I know it’s not the cheapest foundation at £30 but I’m more than happy to spend that amount of money on something that gives me full coverage and ultimately boosts my confidence – even during a breakout. I would recommend this product to anyone who was looking for a similar outcome as me.
